Commissioner Costello Retirement Announcement
Please see message below from Presiding Judge Ralph M. Ramirez about the upcoming retirement of Circuit Court Commissioner Kevin Costello and the posting of the court commissioner position.
I am writing to share that Court Commissioner Kevin Costello has announced his retirement, with his final day of service being August 3rd. Please note that he will be utilizing accrued vacation time from July 8 through August 2.
Commissioner Costello has been an integral part of Waukesha County and Circuit Court Services since his arrival in 2018. He began his career with Milwaukee County where he served 14 years as a Circuit Court Commissioner. Prior to that, he was an assistant district attorney and an attorney in private practice. Throughout his tenure he has demonstrated a level of hard work, commitment, and dedication that is truly worthy of admiration.
In addition to his extensive knowledge and deep understanding of our work, Commissioner Costello is highly respected by staff, court officials, the management team, and our justice partners. His contributions have had a lasting impact on the organization and the community we serve. He has served on many committees and has presented at numerous training sessions, especially in the area of juvenile law. He has also been the president of the statewide association representing court commissioners. We will miss him.
To prepare for his departure and ensure a smooth transition, the Circuit Court Commissioner position has been posted as part of our succession planning efforts, with an anticipated fill date of June 22, 2026.
Please join me in thanking Commissioner Costello for his years of service and in wishing him all the best in his upcoming retirement.
